From beach restoration & Bird Lake to grant applications, community events & strategic planning, here's a look at what our volunteers have been working on over the past month.
Over the past month, much of our work has happened away from the spotlight.
While you've seen updates about the Southern Gateway Corridor, beach restoration, Bird Lake & our recent community campaigns, our volunteers have also been busy attending meetings, preparing grant applications, developing new projects & strengthening partnerships that will help shape the future of Suffolk Park.
Many of these initiatives take months of planning before they become visible to the community.
Here's a snapshot of what each of our subcommittees has been working on.
Environmental Subcommittee
Protecting the places that make Suffolk Park special.
It's been one of the busiest months we've had.
Following Byron Shire Council's unanimous support for the Southern Gateway Corridor, the Environmental Subcommittee has continued working closely with Council staff, Suffolk Park Dune Care & other stakeholders to progress a number of important environmental projects.

These projects all contribute to a bigger picture—protecting Suffolk Park's beaches, waterways & natural environment for future generations.
Grants, Fundraising & Events
Turning community ideas into funded projects.
One of the biggest priorities over recent months has been securing funding to help deliver community projects.
Rather than relying solely on membership fees, we've been developing a long-term funding strategy that supports SPCA's vision of becoming a financially sustainable community organisation.
Our volunteers have spent countless hours researching funding opportunities, preparing grant applications & developing supporting strategies for projects that benefit Suffolk Park.
At the same time, our Events team has continued planning new initiatives designed to bring people together, celebrate our community & create opportunities for local fundraising.
Several grant applications are currently under assessment &, while we can't announce the outcomes just yet, we're optimistic about what's ahead.
Farmers Market Working Group
Exploring a new community event for Suffolk Park.
Following overwhelming community support, our Farmers Market Working Group has continued refining the concept of a neighbourhood-scale farmers market for Suffolk Park.

Community Engagement & Digital
Building a stronger digital community.
Our website has grown a lot over the past six months.
What started as a simple sign up page has become our central hub for community news, environmental projects, consultation, governance, membership & advocacy.
Behind the scenes we've continued improving the website, publishing new resources, supporting grant applications through community engagement & exploring opportunities to further expand the platform.
Future plans include improving the website navigation, updating the home page, creating new pages about our history, event promotions & registrations, volunteer management, community resources & new ways for residents to participate in local projects.
As more people rely on the website for trusted local information, we're committed to continuing its development.
Partnerships & Advocacy
Building relationships that create lasting change.
One of the most valuable parts of community advocacy happens around the meeting table.
Over the past month we've continued meeting with Byron Shire Council staff, local organisations, environmental groups & government agencies to discuss projects ranging from beach restoration & Bird Lake through to community events, resilience planning & future funding opportunities.
Strong relationships don't happen overnight.
They are built through respectful conversations, collaboration & a shared commitment to achieving positive outcomes for Suffolk Park.
It's encouraging to see those relationships continuing to grow.
Looking Ahead
The coming months are shaping up to be just as busy.
We'll continue progressing the Southern Gateway Corridor, advocating for Bird Lake, supporting beach restoration, exploring funding opportunities, developing the Farmers Market concept & planning new community events.
Many of these projects are still in their early stages, but each one represents another step towards a stronger, more connected & more resilient Suffolk Park.
