You're invited

If you'd like to learn about community resilience, meet other locals, or find out how you can volunteer & help strengthen Suffolk Park's preparedness for future emergencies, you're warmly invited to attend the next meeting.

  • Tuesday 4 August 2026

    5.30pm – 7.00pm
    Suffolk Park Hall

Whether you have emergency management experience or simply want to become more connected with your community, everyone is welcome.

More Than Emergency Preparedness

Community resilience is about much more than having an emergency plan.

When floods, storms or other emergencies affect our community, it's often neighbours helping neighbours that makes the difference until emergency services can assist.

That's the idea behind Resilient Suffolk, the newly rebranded Suffolk Park Community Resilience Team.

Resilient Suffolk brings local people together throughout the year to strengthen community resilience by enabling access to up-to-date information during emergency events & providing a formal link to emergency services during a disaster.

The group forms part of the Byron Shire Community Resilience Network (CRN). By working alongside other resilience groups across the region, members share knowledge, strengthen local networks & support vulnerable peoples & communities during emergency events.

The idea is simple: communities that are connected before an emergency are better placed to support one another during & after emergencies.

As Resilient Suffolk explains:

"Our goal is to empower Suffolk Park's response to disaster by being organised, sharing knowledge, creating strong connections & taking collaborative action."

Community-Led

Resilient Suffolk is powered by local volunteers who care about building a stronger, more connected community.

Whether it's sharing ideas, supporting local initiatives or simply getting to know your neighbours, everyone has something to contribute.

The group welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds & experience levels; because community resilience is something we build together.
